Leona Lo

This page is really about the celebration of transsexual lives in Singapore. Evelyn's story is heartbreakingly honest and sincere - about a "son" and "father" who tried "his" best, and whose sense of responsibility and self-sacrifice is so rare in this age of instant self-gratification. I will be posting more transsexual life stories on this page as they come in. Evelyn's story is the first.

If you wish to submit your story of no more than two A4 pages, please email me. The stories will be lightly edited for language, but not content.

I hope to publish a strong chorus of voices so we can learn from each other's experiences - and so that those who read these stories can see us for who we really are. Come celebrate with me. Read on!

1. Evelyn's story

2. This is a heartwarming anecdote from a reader, L.

She wrote:

"Thank you for openly sharing your story in today's newspapers and your
website.  It brought back memories.

22 years ago when my boyfriend left me and my job was shaky, my
landlord decided to end my lease as well with 3 days notice.  I was so
desperately down & shaken.  Well, a colleague spoke to her landlady
and that landlady let me have her guest room for free until I could
find a place. On my 2nd night there while we were all chatting in the
kitchen, the landlady told me she was a transexual. She was beautiful
~ facial features, build, the works.  I spent 2 weeks in that house
and got to know her, taste her superb cooking, shared jokes and
stories ... and will always remember and be grateful to that very kind
human being.

She later found love, got married and moved to Germany.  You will too.
Be kind to yourself and think positive, as you are now doing.  I wish
you all the best and loads of happiness."
